Asbestos Bulkheads on Navy Ships

E. F. Hauserman Company provided Asbestos Bulkheads for ships.  Their 1940s catalog states that they were approved for government use. Bulkheads were partitions designed for ship hulls.  Asbestos was probably used for fire resistance.

Their catalog is just one of our recent finds. Check out our website, AsbestosBooks.com for the our newest acquisitions.

Asbestos Gaskets in Navy Ship Boilers

In our latest search of marine catalogs, we came across a catalog for United States Gasket Company, which advertises that their asbestos gaskets were readily available for the following marine boilers:
Babcock & Wilcox
Combustion Engineering
Edge Moor
Foster Wheeler
Heine
Ward

We've also found this Navy manual which indicates that metal-encased asbestos gaskets were to be used on boilers.
